Skales grew up in a christian background and was a normal church boy who was train in a Church setting . He was one way or the other connected to music in their church and his mother’s cassette store, from there he started having great interest in music . When his father died , he was staying with his single mother who took full responsibility of him through his secondary and university education . His mother was doing a menial jobs to nurture him because there was no father to carter for them both. When he got admission into University of Jos , luckily for him he met producers Jeremiah Gyang and Jesse Jagz . He left University of Jos and attended Lead City University where he graduated with a degree in Office Management and Technology.

After graduating from the  Lead City University, Skales finally made up his mind to take his career to the next level . His journey into professional singing started way back in 2000, when he started writing his own songs and honing his rap skills in Kaduna, where he grew up. After some years of hustling and working underground , he travelled to Jos as often as he could to work with some of Nigeria’s finest producers – Jeremiah Gyang and Jesse Jagz that was between 2007 and 2008 .
In 2008, Skales took a bold step and he entered for the Zain Tru Search competition and emerged as the winner for the North Central region, and then he came to Lagos. He debut single “Must Shine” enjoyed good airplay early 2009 and made it to the Rhythm FM Top 7 Jamz at 7 in Lagos for couple of  weeks and it was also the ‘Hit Song of the Week’ on Rhythm FM in Jos and Abuja.
Skales met Empire Mates Entertainment C.E.O Banky W. in 2009 , he signed a record deal with the popular label . After being signed to the label he released “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi” simultaneously and both songs were produced by Edo Born beat maker, Sarz . After some time E.M.E acts teamed up to release their debut album titled Empire Mates State of Mind (2012) and Skales was one of the main acts on that album . Skale collaborated with Banky W., Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola and DJ Xclusive on five (“Baddest Boy”, “Get Down Tonight”, “Sun Mo Mi”, “Ko Mo Le” and “Change”) of the album’s seven singles.

In February 2014, Skales left Empire Mates Entertainment following the expiration of his four-year recording contract. The label executive thought it wise to let him go because they were not getting enough cash from his career which made them not to renew his contract.
After leaving Empire Mates Entertainment record label,he was reportedly signed on to Timaya’s Dem Mama Music label which he latter left and wen ahead to found his own record label OHK Music establishment.
